Team

The Groupe Brochu’s Board of Directors is made up of outside directors and shareholders. To ensure sound governance, outside directors bring experience and professionalism to the table and ensure that the company’s mission and strategy are being carried out. Members of the family succession attend as observers.

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

M. Clarence Turgeon, FCPA, FCA, ASC

Chairman of the Board of Directors

During his 40-year career in audit and consulting services at Deloitte, he has provided services to small and medium-sized businesses, large corporations, private companies, publicly traded companies, cooperatives and public institutions. These companies were active in a multitude of sectors including forestry and lumber, industrial products, financial services and the public sector.

 

In addition to being dedicated to client services, he has held numerous management positions within the firm, including market leader for Quebec City and the Quebec regions. At the time of his retirement in June 2019, Mr. Turgeon was acting as a market-leading partner for medium and large businesses in Quebec.

 

Today, he serves on numerous boards of directors for private companies, cooperatives and non-profit organizations. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Deloitte Canada, and a member of the Finance, Compensation and Risk Management subcommittees. Finally, he has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute, the Collège de Lévis, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, and the committee and council of the Quebec Order of Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA).

Mr Paul Michaud, ASC

Mr Paul Michaud, entrepreneur, executive, manager, consultant.

 

For about ten years, he participated in the start-up and/or turnaround of companies in the forestry and agricultural sectors. In 1986, he acquired a small casket manufacturing company, Les Cercueils-Alliance-Saint Laurent, which became a North American leader in the industry with three factories in Quebec and in New Brunswick, a partnership with venture capital and distribution networks all across America. In 2010, he will sell his stake to one of his American partners. This was followed by a Certification in Corporate Governance (CCG). Then, with two partners, he started LPM-Transition, specialized in transition coaching for business leaders, their successors and their teams.

 

He actively participates on various Boards of Directors and Advisory Councils, and enjoys coaching and advising executives.

Mme Guylaine Brochu

Vice-president of corporate affairs

Guylaine Brochu holds degrees in arts and letters, business administration and marketing, and is a graduate of the Collège des Administrateurs de Sociétés and of the Harvard Business School. She began her career in the Agri-Marché division, where she held the position of Senior Director of the poultry sector. Vice-president of the Groupe Brochu since 2013, she presides over the L’Outilleur Centre de rénovation division, under the Home Hardware banner.

 

Guylaine has served on the Board of Directors of Home Hardware Stores Limited since 2019. She is currently a director on the Board of Groupe Brochu while devoting herself to the family succession of the company.

 

Involved as a volunteer in her professional and community circles, Guylaine has participated in the organization of events for the Sclerosis Society of Canada of Chaudière-Appalaches and is a member of the Board of Directors for the l’Hôtel Dieu de Lévis Foundation, where she chairs the Governance Committee. She was a director of the Quebec Association of Animal and Cereal Nutrition Industries (AQINAC), the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC), and the Quebec Hardware and Building Supply Association (AQMAT).

M. Jean-Pierre brochu

Vice-president

Vice President Innovation and Technology Development since 2014 at Agri-Marché, Jean-Pierre Brochu has a long history with the company. After his training in administration at Université Laval, he began his career at Agri-Marché, becoming Director of Supply and Logistics and then Director of Operations.

 

A graduate of the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés, he has shared his knowledge of grain supply, logistics, development and marketing by sitting on the Table filière des gains, the Association des commerçants de grains du Québec (ACGQ), the Board of Directors for the CGQ (Concertation Grains Québec) and various other industry-related committees. A shareholder of Groupe Brochu, Jean-Pierre is a director of both Groupe Brochu and Nova Grain.

M. Patrice Brochu

President and CEO

With degrees in agriculture (management consulting) and a BACC in administration, Patrice Brochu began his career at Avibro as Director of Operations and General Manager. In 2001, Patrice joined the Agri-Marché team as Assistant General Manager and became Vice President in 2004. In 2008, he took the reins to manage the company. Patrice has been president of Groupe Brochu and its main divisions since 2013.

 

In recent years, he has had the opportunity to sit on various industry boards such as the Quebec Association of Animal and Cereal Nutrition Industries (AQINAC) and the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC). He is currently a director on the boards of Nova Grain and Olymel.

Marie-Christine
Marie-Christine has held various positions in accounting and finance and has risen through the ranks to currently hold the position of Chief Accountant at Agri-Marché. With a CPA title since 2015 and a degree from HEC Montreal, she began her professional career in an accounting firm before joining the family business.

 

William
Agronomist and holder of a master’s degree in business intelligence from the University of Western Ontario, William Brochu has contributed to the advancement of numerous projects within manufacturing companies. Recognized for his interpersonal skills and his passion for agriculture, he regularly inquires about new developments and innovation opportunities in the industry. Currently a representative at Agri-Marché, he takes pleasure in working with and supporting entrepreneurs in the agricultural and agri-food sector.

 

Antoine
With experience gained from various positions in different areas of the business during his studies as well as a job in an asset management firm, Antoine graduated from Laval University in 2020 with a Bachelor in Finance. He began his career as a buyer at Floradale Feed Mill in Ontario, a recent acquisition of the company, where he fell in love with the agricultural sector. Today, he is a supervisor for JNB Distributeur Agricole, a new division of Agri-Marché.

 

Odile
With a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations, Odile is currently completing a master’s degree in People and Organization Development at Laval University while holding a position as a Human Capital Consultant at Agri-Marché since May 2022.

Lorraine Potvin

Vice President Finance

Lorraine Potvin has a Bachelor in Administration (Accounting) as well as a CPA title. With her experience, Lorraine is a skilled finance manager who has worked in a multi-site environment and in world-renowned manufacturing companies as well as serving as CFO of a public company and private companies. Over the years, she has developed a solid expertise as a change agent by implementing new financial systems, strategic analysis and executive financial reporting. Lorraine plays a key role in the company and contributes with her experience in building strong partnerships and maintaining a sound financial structure.
